The quicklime is crushed into 0-20mm lumps and mixed with water in the HK lime hydrator to form lime hydrate. The more complete the slaking of calcium oxide with water, the higher output of lime hydrate. The reason is that when quick lime contact with water, it firstly absorbs water to form the intermediate product lime hydrate. The bigger size the lump is, the more time needed to do slaking. And water temperature also influences the slaking speed. The higher the temperature is , the less slaking time. And water temperature also influences quality of lime hydrate and volume-weight ratio. If the water temperature is too high, it is not safe for the equipment performance and lime hydrate surface area.
If crushed quick lime size is too small, some impurity will be in the lime hydrate, such as slag or calcium carbonate. It is difficult to separate the impurity from lime hydrate. So controlling the suitable lump size is good to do slaking and guarantee finished product quality.
HK Lime Hydrator’s second-stage and third-stage slaking chamber use slope driving structure, which can reduce friction and lower the load of the screw and decrease the wearing of blades. This also increases the conveying ability and powder moving speed.
In the lime hydrator, quicklime coarse powder or quicklime lumps is turned into lime hydrate Ca(OH)2 after the addition and mixing with water at a temperature of approx. 100°C. The requested residual moisture of the hydrate is regulated by a temperature-controlled water supply and a variable material retention time. The grinding in the lime hydrator ensures the water and quicklime can be mixed completely.
According to customers’ different requirements, the lime hydrator can be designed as a one-stage machine or a multi-stage machine, with or without premixer. The vapors developing during hydration are dedusted by the pulse-jet collector and blower. The filtering bag is an integral and important part of the lime hydrator, which guarantee the vapors can be eliminated from the lime hydrator.
For the production of lime hydrate used in flue gas desulfurization plants of power stations or waste incineration facilities, the one-stage hydrator is the best choice. In this case, the dust collection filter is not needed because the vapors produced during hydrating are directly conveyed into the flue gas desulfurization plant.
1. Higher Auto Control: Gravimetric quicklime feed, temperature-controlled water supply, and a sophisticated measuring technology
2. Reliable performance for classifying, grinding, conveying, stocking and packing.
3. High product quality: the lime hydrator adopts an accurate metering of slaking water to guarantee the slaked finished product with minor moisture, higher percentage of fines and less agglomeration.
4. The slaking process is fully completed in the lime hydrator. There is no need for secondary slaking silo.
